Trusting Your Inner Voice
The Five Pillars Of Life Series|05 Intuition
The calm atmosphere of autumn seems like the perfect time to explore our intuition, a moment for contemplation that urges me to engage with my inner guidance wholeheartedly.
Today we explore the pillar of intuition, a life force in every arena. And how might listening to this silent wisdom not just be a compass we can use to help guide our decisions, but change and deepen all the pillars of life, such as our well-being, relationships, prosperity, and yes even career? How do we lean into this inner knowing more and develop more trust?
Exploring the Pillar of Intuition
Over the past few months, I’ve been diving deep into each of my five pillars, which form the core of my coaching and aromatic signature readings. Now, we arrive at intuition, arguably the most subtle yet powerful guide in handling life. Intuition is more than just a gut feeling; it's a form of deep, internal knowing that transcends logic and reason. In my coaching practice, aromatic readings serve as a foundation for the first coaching session or even before it, the intuition pillar is about how we cultivate trust in ourselves and the decisions we make, often without the need for external validation.
This pillar is essential in helping us handle life’s challenges and opportunities, whether it’s choosing the right career path, deepening a relationship, or even knowing when to take a break. When aligned with the other pillars, intuition creates a foundation for a more connected life. In this article, let us understand how working on this inner guidance can help us grow and find fulfillment in life overall.
Following Your Intuition
There is so much more to intuition, and though it is often referred to as that inner voice in many ways, there could or should be a book written on each separate type of intuitive insight. A type of intelligence that works beyond the rational, giving us ‘soft’ guidance in ways subtle and deep. Unlike the analytical brain which can often conspire and ponder on things endlessly, your intuition will deliver it to you in moments of clarity, often when you least expect it.
In the same way that career and business success is not simply driven by financial gain, intuitive success is the degree to which we fulfill our soul's path. By listening to our intuition, we can make choices that reflect our deepest values and desires, often not knowing why something feels right or good.
As Albert Einstein once said, “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant.”
This quote serves as a reminder that while logic has its place, intuition offers something more: an internal compass that, if trusted, can lead us to outcomes that are fulfilling on all levels.
Your Inner Compass
Like our careers or relationships, intuition is something that needs to be nurtured. We need more than just a gut feeling; we must listen, trust, and take action. Intuition, much like any skill we work to build, requires balance, just as we manage career ambition with rest and boundaries to avoid burnout, we must also create space for intuition to grow. This begins by quieting the mind and doing the inner work necessary to let it flourish.
Many people find that their intuition becomes clearer during moments of stillness, whether that’s through meditation, deep breathing, or spending time in nature. By cultivating these practices, we give intuition room to surface, allowing it to inform our decisions in ways that can’t be achieved through rational thought alone.
However, not all intuition is about major life decisions. It can be as simple as knowing when to take a break, when to say no, or when to follow an unexpected opportunity. The more we learn to trust these small nudges, the more confidence we build in listening to our inner wisdom.
Learning to Trust Yourself
Much like the passion paradox in the career pillar, where love for work can lead to burnout, there is a similar challenge when it comes to intuition. It can be hard to believe in our intuition in a world that prizes logic and evidence. Intuition can feel vague and uncertain, leading to self-doubt at times, but intuition, by its very nature, doesn’t come with guarantees; it’s an act of faith.
So how do we build that trust? It starts with the understanding that intuition is a force of alignment, not certainty. This will often manifest itself as an overall sense of peace around the decision rather than anxiety, which is usually a sign that intuition is at play. That feeling is always your intuition lighting the way because your intuition knows that it can rely on you to trust yourself.
“As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethes
Goethes’ words emphasize the importance of intuition. Trusting yourself is the gateway to living a life aligned with your true nature. Once you accept this belief, you can manage life’s uncertainties with more ease, knowing that your inner guidance will lead the way.
The Power of Common Sense
In the same way that career success isn’t just about accomplishments, intuitive success isn’t about always having the right answers. It comes down to aligning with who you actually are and letting life move through you versus constantly trying to mold yourself to fit it.
What if intuition is not a Holy Grail to omniscient decision-making, but an exercise in trust development with ourselves? This reframe explores intuition as a path and door that takes us on a holistic level of awareness that shifts our well-being, relationships, and overall sense of purpose.
True success in intuition comes from integrating it into everyday life. Whether it’s making decisions in business, nurturing relationships, or managing personal challenges, intuition offers guidance that can enhance every area of life. It’s not about always knowing the outcome but trusting that you’re being led in the right direction.
Intuition in Practice
If your goal is to have intuition become a central pillar of your life, It is time to get used to quieting the mind and listening with the heart.
Reflective Questions:
1. What activities do you practice to silence your mind and listen to that inner voice?
2. Can you recall specific moments when your intuition guided you exactly where you needed to be?
Putting It All Together
So in conclusion, I would say that this exploration of intuition feels incomplete if you do not commit to trusting YOURSELF more so you can live a less cookie-cutter and more soul-led life. helping you manage the complexities of decision-making, relationships, and personal growth. Listening to this inner wisdom helps you direct your life toward deeper values and purpose.
Trusting your intuition is not about having certainty at all; it’s about finding peace in the process. The more you practice, the stronger your connection will become. As you integrate intuition into your daily life, remember that this pillar is about trusting the journey, knowing that your inner voice will always lead you in the right direction.
